I am working on a couple of new shop samples and hearing a lot about the current fad for hats with a hole to allow for a ponytail or messy bun. Seriously, any hat pattern can be used for this by binding off an inch or two before the pattern indicates. There are several great free patterns on Ravelry and I have samples for two of them in the shop: Riva Bun Hat using Noro Silk Garden Solo and the Magical “No Purling Required” Ponytail Hat in Berroco Vintage Chunky. Knit in these yarns each is an under $10 project!

Today I have an adorable baby yarn to share with you. Two yarns actually, Both made by the Dale Garn company out of Norway. The first yarn is Dale Baby ULL which is a wonderful classic fingering weight baby yarn that is 100% superwash merino wool.
Ravelry user frkbustad has knit up this adorable striped cardigan using Baby ULL. The pattern she uses is not in English, you could easily add stripes to any cardigan pattern. I just love the idea of a little pink cardi with yellow stripes for a baby girl.
This is my favorite project of all the ones I found knit in Baby ULL, made by Ravelry user HildeHaugen. The pattern is completely in Norwegian, but it is so adorable I couldn’t not share it with you. A cute little elf style hat, with a cardigan and matching pants it would be so perfectly adorable on any little person.
But, Baby ULL isn’t the only yarn I want to share with you today.
Dale Garn also makes Dale Lille Lerke yarn – a super soft merino (53%) cotton (47%) blend that is simply to die for. The colors are subtle, pale pink, blue, white and gray making for a classy finished piece that doesn’t scream for attention.
Ravelry user Marihona has knit the Lille Lerke yarn up into a super sweet hat and booties set.
Ravelry User Kikkitull used Lille Lerke to knit up a chemo cap using less than one skein of yarn and the free Lace Cap pattern by Adrienne Robson. She modified the pattern to use only one repeat of the lace pattern and I think it looks amazing.
I dont want you to think that these yarns are only for baby projects! This lovely pink sweater was knit up by Ravelry user Skandi. Using Lille Lerke yarn she designed her own easy raglan pullover using a lace design for the front and back.
This gray and white scarf was knit up by Ravelry user pokeystackle and uses Baby ULL, but would look lovely in Lille Lerke too. It is the Array Scarf pattern designed by Shibui Knits and it is a free pattern!
